I got a chance to review and dabble with both the phones at the Blogger's event. The Android 2.1 powered Samsung Galaxy S boasts of a dazzling 4-inch Super AMOLED screen, a 1 GHz application processor. The design is Slimmer, and makes video display so astonishingly vivid, your display almost seems alive when you are gaming or watching movies. It is based on Samsung's latest TouchWiz 3.0 user-interface. Feature such as Swype text input device, allows users to type at lightning speed, even faster than the iPhone.

Wave is the first mobile handset to be released on Samsung's proprietary, 'open' mobile platform 'Bada'. The word bada in Korean means Ocean and this platform truly showcases an ocean of possibilities.

Speaking at the Samsung Bloggers Meet,Mumbai- Mr. Arun S Devarajan, Evangelist & developer bada platform said 'Bada is the revolutionary new platform, and developers can win million of dollars by participating in the developer contest. '

With More than 50,000 applications available to download from the Android Market, Users now have access to Gmail, Google Maps, Youtube, Google Maps and other applications giving them a seamless experience. The best part of these Apps, is that every application is categorised, and new updates are shown in the application screen whenever there is a new application developed.

Also Games like the Asphalt Urban GT and Airplane are similar to the Apple iPhone giving gamers an amazing and rich gaming experience. Check out the Video where I am playing the Asphalt Racing Game on the Galaxy S.

With a Wave of Features in the Galaxy S such as the Tapping feature, which enables you to Call by just flipping your fingers to the right, and SMS a contact by flipping your fingers to the left. Special Mention of the 5 Megapixel camera, which shoots pictures and videos with crystal clear quality.

Samsung's foray into the smartphone market, has paved the path of delivering iPhone like user experience to lakh of Indian consumers. I would rate this phone, as the most sleekest, fastest and dazzling phone in the market now after the iPhone4.

Can we live on the cloud?

As technology progresses more of our lives are being held not on our personal computers, but by websites on underlying servers that we never see.

Cloud computing

It's the dawn of the new millenium, and we are all signed up on webmail services, which are based on cloud computing. Instead of buying a server, we are accessing and storing our emails, through the web. Your email, facebook comments, flickr photos all live in the cloud.

Even Applications are accessed through the internet, Remember the farmville. All have your farms, milk and cow information stored on the cloud.

What is Cloud computing?

With Cloud computing, you can access an application being run on a server operated by someone else. Often these applications are paid for on a subscription or lease basis.

Cloud computing was innovated to solve Business Challenges and to create compelling experiences. These cloud-based platforms have become a target of choice for both entrepreneurial and enterprise develpers, who have got a low cost option for market entry & application deployment.

Some developers are apprehensive on the security when it comes to hosting Cloud computing applications, For which I would say - If you can trust, an external service to store your emails. Why not your software?

We have started streaming and viewing movies online rather than storing it in our hard-disk or downloading them.

The rise of the sales for small light weight computers- called as netbooks that are used primarily to interact with applications in the cloud have paved the way for Developers and cloud vendors.

Cloud computing technology,is expected to continue increasing with Android Operating system, totally built keeping in mind the future of Cloud.

Instead of Managing, scaling the construction, we can concentrate on the business application, and plug our application to the azure cloud computing server which takes care of deployment & the infrastructure.

A typical application built on the Microsoft Azure Cloud operating service , would make use of C# and contain SQL Azure-A relational database based on ms sql server technology. It would also contain a Service bus and an access control service.

Over time, we will see Cloud computing applications, maintain the same speed and interactivity as an application run on the computer.

With content, technology and infrastructure coming from multiple vendors in the "cloud",analyzing where the problem occured and hence managing the end user experience will become extremely complex. That brings us down to one question, Can we live on the Cloud?

About the Author: Masoom Tulsiani, is a Web Developer and a Cloud Computing aficionado based in Mumbai.

Swype Versus iPhone

The inventor of the T9 keyboard technology for numeric keypads, Cliff Kushler, is back in the game with a new alphanumeric entry technology for today's devices: touch-screen laptops and smartphones. ,Swype, is quite simple to use, although beneath the user interface there's a lot going on. Here is a video comparing the speed of the Swype technology with the iphone keyboard.
